
Robbie Fraser
Dulcimer's creative lead Robbie Fraser is an award-winning Scottish documentary filmmaker whose work explores legacy, identity, and resilience, often in extreme or overlooked settings. He has directed five feature documentaries and many hours of broadcast television. His works include the acclaimed cinema documentaries Final Ascent (Bilbao, Kathmandu, Ulju), Hamish(Glasgow Film Festival), and Family Goldmine (CPH:DOX), the searing television documentary Tormod (Celtic Media Festival Jury Award winner) and the fantasy comedy Gamerz (Fantastic Fest Austin, Lund, Fantasporto).
He is an accomplished director, producer, writer, DOP, editor, and executive producer.
His productions span warzones and mountain ranges, archives and inner worlds, combining visual rigor with emotional depth. Robbie was Executive Producer on The Hermit of Treig (BAFTA Scotland winner, 2022, among many other international festival prizes) and continues to collaborate on character-driven, globally resonant stories. Educated at Oxford and Columbia, and a graduate of Eurodoc, he brings both literary insight and field-tested experience to his storytelling.
His first novel, the Mali-set thriller Black Mamba, won the Scottish Book Trust Next Chapter Award. His first language was Scottish Gaelic.
